Adding a WebTemplate Lite Site

To add a new WebTemplate Lite site, go to http://www.webtemplate.com.au and enter your username and password. Once logged in, a list of your websites will be shown. Click on the ‘Add a New Site’ button.

A dialog will appear asking what type of site you would like to create. Choose ‘Add a new WebTemplate Lite’ site and click ‘Next’

You will then be taken through a Wizard which will collect details about the site.

The Customer’s Details

If the website is for a new customer, click on the ‘Add a New Customer’ button and enter the customer’s details in the dialog which appears. Login details for the customer are not compulsory.

If the website is for an existing customer, find the customer in the list of customers which appears and click the ‘Select’ link on the right of the customer’s details.

The Site’s Details

Next, enter a name and choose a hosting plan for the site. The site name can be used to identify the site in your list of sites. It is also the default name which will appear in the title bar for the site.

Choose a status for the site.  The status can be either:
  1. Pending – Pending sites are being prepared to go live
  2. Test – Test sites are used to test features of WebTemplate and will never go live

The Look and Feel

You can choose the look and feel of the website from a list of three site templates.  The three site templates differ in their banners, menus, footers and home page content.  Apart from the banners, menus and footers, the layout of the internal pages of each of the site templates is the same.

The look and feel can be customised once the site has been created.

You can click on ‘Preview Look and Feel’ link to view an example site for each site template.

The three different look and feels can be seen below:

Template 1

Template 2

Template 3

Modules

Modules can be used to enhance a website’s functionality with features such as ordering, website membership and content moderation. Modules are not available to WebTemplate Lite sites.

Domain Names

Domain names can be entered here for the site if they are known. If not, they can be entered when the site is ready to go live.

The ‘Primary Domain’ for the website is the domain people will use to access the site. Secondary domains will redirect to the primary domain. Each website may only have one domain name.

Check and Finish

The final step in creating a site is to check the details which were entered. Once you have confirmed these details are correct, click the ‘Next’ button to create the site.  After the site has been created a dialog will appear asking if you would like to view the site. If you choose not to view the site, you can choose to view it later by clicking on its name or its view link in your list of sites.
